Kim Homsma is your Grand Prix Copenhagen champion!
On Saturday morning, over 1,300 players from all over the world entered the main event to take their shot at a winner's trophy and a piece of the $50,300 prize pool in the Modern Horizons Limited format.
With dozens of different mechanics, the format proved to be a delight for more dedicated and enfranchised players. The games are complex, the cards are nostalgic, and the synergies are rich.
In the end, in a Top 8 dominated by Danish veterans, it was newcomer Kim Homsma who took it down. This weekend marked his first Grand Prix Day 2 and his first Modern Horizons drafts, but he crushed all other competitors.
Homsma drafted a powerful U/G Snow deck in the Top 8, and he was able to defeat Christoffer Larsen in the finals with an 8/8 Abominable Treefolk in Game 1 and with a double Man-o'-War rush in Game 2, showing that both synergy and speed are essential in Modern Horizons Limited.
