Dylan Nollen is your Grand Prix Portland champion!

Earlier on Saturday morning, 510 players entered the Standard Grand Prix in the last MagicFest of the year to battle for the $50,300 prize pool and the trophy.

The Standard metagame was fairly diverse overall. Jund Sacrifice was the most-played deck on Day 1, but it did not manage to convert into a Top 8 finish. Ultimately, the Top 8 decks were 2x Rakdos Knights, 2x Simic Flash, G/B Midrange, Jeskai Fires, Temur Adventure, and R/G Adventure.

Dylan Nollen, a 22-year old gamer from the U.S., went undefeated all weekend long. He chose Rakdos Knights because he had a "very good win rate on Arena" with the deck and because he felt "the U/G matchups are free wins." His deck choice worked perfectly: He went 14-0-1 in the Swiss and continued his winning streak in the Top 8.

In the finals, he was on the ropes after his Jeskai Fires opponent Drew Christensen used double Deafening Clarion to win Game 1. But he won Games 2 and 3 in style: Not only with a fast aggro curve but also with a Rotting Regisaur wielding Embercleave, the signature combo of his deck.

Dylan Nollen's Grand Prix victory comes with a direct invitation to the first Players Tour finals. Congratulations once again, and we'll see everyone in 2020!
